Shakespeare & Friends kicks off the 2025 season with romantic, funny, and poignant walk through the multiverse in Nick Payne’s Constellations.

Constellations follows physicist Marianne (Michelle Newman) and beekeeper Roland (Aaron Ybarra) through their romantic relationship. Marianne often waxes poetic about cosmology, quantum mechanics, string theory and the belief that there are multiple universes that pull people's lives in various directions. We watch the outcomes of different universes-some hilarious, some heartbreaking-come to life, as Marianne and Roland move through the multiverse together. Nick Payne’s clever and poignant script shows scenes repeat and overlap as we see just a few of Marianne and Roland’s intertwined fate.

Director Catherine Gillet has created an intimate experience of the multiverse. Constellations is presented in the Tryon Depot Room for two nights only.
